Two years ago, nurse practitioner Kevin Hook began his career at Golden Living as Translational Research Coordinator in Clinical Services where he was responsible for researching ways to bring best evidence of clinical, or translating such evidence, into the daily practice of Golden Living nurses.

Now Kevin is Coordinator of Advanced Practice Nursing and Ethics Integration. On a daily basis, he is enthusiastically supporting Golden Living's nurse practitioners and researching ways that their clinical expertise can be more widely accessed by clinicians across the company. His focus is on enhancing clinical care company-wide, which includes monitoring the impact of nurse practitioners on clinical care in their respective Golden Living Centers.

"For anyone who works in healthcare, the patient always come first," Kevin explains. "We have an ethical mandate to do so. This demands clinical excellence, whatever kind of care you provide. It also requires mutual trust and respect among the team of people who provide care. If those things are in place, everything else follows."

Kevin nimbly stepped into a role that didn't exist before, and luckily it allows him to utilize his research skills and creative thinking on a wide array of exciting projects. Every day, many people rely on Golden Living to care for them, and Kevin believes the company is committed to providing the best care possible.

Kevin explains, "The commitment here toward clinical excellence is evident. That makes me and all the nurse practitioners with whom I work committed to staying the course. It's really a privilege to be a part of a very 'patient focused' healthcare organization."
