• GLCR Receives National Award

  Golden LivingCenter - Reedley has been selected by the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) to receive the Silver Quality Award for the outstanding care and service it provides to its residents. The LivingCenter is one of only 31 healthcare facilities nationwide to earn this recognition. Awards were presented during the AHCA/NCAL 62nd Annual Convention and Exposition in September.

  "This is a huge honor for me personally because it validates the high level of care that we strive to provide to our residents every day," said Julie Whiteside, Executive Director of GLCR. "This is a testimony to the hard work and dedication of our entire staff."

  To be selected by AHCA/NCAL as a Silver Quality Award recipient, a healthcare facility must demonstrate an organization-wide commitment to a patient-centered mission, define its principal customers and their expectations, and indicate how it is striving to meet their needs. Recipients also must have previously earned the AHCA/NCAL Bronze Quality Award.

  The AHCA/NCAL Quality awards are designed to recognize quality achievement while supporting improvement efforts in long-term care through the promotion of education and awareness.

  Sonia Canales, LVN, is our Employee of the Month for June. Sonia has worked at GLCR for 12 years. Sonia has proven to be a very competent and compassionate nurse. She is well-respected by all she comes in contact with. Congratulations, Sonia, and thank you for a job well done!

  Christina Alvarez, CNA, is our Employee of the Month for July. Christina has worked at GLCR for 9 years. She is a very compassionate caregiver who consistently strives to deliver quality care. Congratulations, Christina, for this well-deserved honor!

  Lauren Morrison, CNA, is our Employee of the Month for August. Lauren has worked at GLCR for 6 years. She is described by her peers as hardworking, patient and caring with both residents and staff. Lauren always has a smile on her face. Thank you, Lauren, for a job well done!

• New Face at GLCR

  Harkirat Bal, RN, has joined the GLCR team as the new Director of Staff Development (DSD). Harry (as he is known to most) originally worked at GLCR in 2005 as a CNA. He left to pursue his RN license and returned in mid-July.

  Prior to returning to GLCR, Harry worked as a charge nurse in another skilled nursing facility and as a CNA instructor in Dinuba. He brings a wealth of knowledge and a real passion for educating staff on topics pertinent to long term care.

  As DSD, Harry will be responsible to ensure the training needs of all staff are met. He will conduct initial orientation for new employees and will coordinate the ongoing educational needs of the entire staff.
