Nursing Assistant Stories
Joanne Hogan
Senior Nursing Assistant
Golden LivingCenter – Sleepy Hollow Manor
Joanne Hogan has worked for Golden Living and its predecessors
for the past 44 years. Her career actually began when she applied
for kitchen work but was then asked by a nurse to assist on the
floor instead. That’s where she worked from then on.
Joanne views the care of the patient as her top priority, and
she is dedicated to treating others the way that she would like to
be treated. “I’m willing to help others. I’m kind and considerate.
I feel like we are all on the same level, regardless of how long I
have worked here,” she explains.
For those seeking to become a CNA, she explains that you must
have the true desire to help others. “You must be a person who can
love anyone regardless of where you come from,” she says. “If you
make a family feel good about the care you provide, it makes it all
worthwhile.”
During Joanne’s free time, she loves to sing and dance and be
involved with her church. She enjoys spending time with her husband
of 51 years and her two sons, 6 grandchildren and four great
grandchildren.
